Claverack, Tri-County offer scholarships to MU students


MANSFIELD – Scholarship funds are available for Mansfield University students who are members or dependents of members of Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative or Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative.

Applications are being accepted for two $1,000 scholarships that are available for the 2007-2008 academic year. One of those scholarships will be awarded to a Claverack member or dependent, and the other will go to a Tri-County member or dependent.

To be eligible for consideration, students must:

o be enrolled full time at Mansfield University

o demonstrate financial need

o be a member or dependent of a member of Claverack or Tri-County

o demonstrate the highest traits of leadership, citizenship and character.

Scholarship applications are available online at www.claverack.com and ww.tri-countyrec.com. Applications are also available from the Claverack office in Wysox and the Tri-County office in Mansfield. The boards of directors of Claverack and Tri-County endowed the scholarship fund at Mansfield University in 2000, with a goal of providing financial assistance to any member or dependent of a member pursuing a degree at the university.

A member of the State System of Higher Education, Mansfield University attracts many students from throughout the partner cooperatives’ service territories.

Member-owned, non-profit electric utilities, Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, based in Wysox, and Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative, with headquarters in Mansfield, provide electricity to more than 36,000 consumer-members, primarily across the state’s Northern Tier.
