Timing is Everything
Timing is everything, even when it comes to electricity. Due to supply and demand, lower rates are available during periods of reduced usage. The cost of electricity is higher when the demand is higher and the generation cost is higher.
Under Time of Use rate (TOU), you are responsible to manage your usage during certain periods of the day to have the potential to save on your bill. You can manage your usage by adding timers or using smart devices on appliances to operate during off-peak times (low demand periods/low cost) compared to the on-peak times (high periods of demand/high cost) to achieve saving potential.
