Mansfield, PA— On March 5, Tri-County REC and Tri-Co Connections staff ventured beyond their usual roles to demonstrate their support for the Tioga County Homeless Initiative.

The Tioga County Homeless Initiative (TCHI) is a crucial organization that provides indispensable support and resources to individuals and families facing homelessness or housing instability in the region. Recognizing the significance of this cause, Tri-County REC and Tri-Co Connections eagerly extended their support to TCHI by actively participating in the interior priming work associated with the new facility.

In 2019, the Tioga County Homeless Initiative established a Capital Campaign Committee to raise funds for a new homeless shelter facility. Within six months, the committee successfully raised

$300,000.00 and has since surpassed $700,000 in campaign funds. The estimated cost of the new building exceeds $1 million, and it continues to receive support and volunteer labor, including contributions from the Tri-County REC and Tri-Co Connections staff.

“Beyond their commitment to providing reliable electric and fiber-to-the-home services to our members, our employees have a deep-rooted dedication to community service,” remarked Michael Hanawalt, Director of Economic Development & Member Engagement at Tri-County REC. “We believe in the importance of supporting our neighbors and making a positive difference in the areas we serve. Contributing to the Tioga County Homeless Initiative and their new building project perfectly aligns with our core principles and our genuine concern for the community.”
